He was born in 1960 in Karsiyaka. Ortabas has been in business life for 35 years and served leading NGOs such as Egiad. He is the owner of Uzbas Arboretum and the chairperson of the board of directors of Urla Sarapcilik. He also serves as the president of the Association of Urla Bag Yolu, which greatly contributed to its establishment. Ortabas is married with two children and has an advanced level of English.
